Becoming A Member
Becoming a member of Trinity is a process of discernment and calling. Our Anglican heritage, theological commitment, passion for authentic community and desire to see transformation in ourselves and in our city all blend together to make Trinity unique. That uniqueness resonates well with some people, but not all. That's where the membership process comes in. We want to make sure that people know what they are getting into when they commit to living their lives with us according to the pattern Jesus has called us to embrace.
The process begins with our lunch for newcomers called "Inside Trinity." In a relaxed setting we have an opportunity to share our stories with each other and discern what God might be doing in bringing us together.
After "Inside Trinity" the process we call "On Ramp" begins. It starts with Alpha (an eleven week small groupl exploration of the basics of the Christian faith) for those who haven't already participated in something like it. We also ask folks to listen to a series of teachings on the website called "Anglican Essentials." Anglican Essentials gives you a picture of why being Anglian is important to us and how Trinity is different from churches in other traditions. "On Ramp" concludes with a workshop usually offered on a Saturday morning called "Disciple the Nations." In the workshop we trace see how God has been working throughout history to brings people from every language, tongue, tribe and nation into a relationship with Himself. "On Ramp" culminates in baptism for those who have not been baptized before.
The second phase of preparation for membership focuses on readiness to serve. We ask all potential member to read the biblical passages in the Essential 100 reading program (the list and a devotional book is available on the website). During this phase you will partic"ipate in a small group that will be studying the Book of Acts and key passages in the Epistles that talk about the essence of the Church. During two Saturday mornings, you will join others in a process of discovering how God has uniquely wired you for ministry. We call that process "Here I Am." For those interested in becoming members, the whole process leads up to Confirmation and the signing of Trinity's Membership Covenant.
