Mission Trip to Peru in January, 2008

Maggie with Peru friends

Trinity members have made two short-term mission trips to the shanty-town mission of San Francisco outside Lima, Peru. They returned with many stories of God's accomplishments with His children in Lima. Their mission included the collection of angel tree gifts last December for distribution to each of the children along with a pair of shoes. The trip was sponsored by the members and friends of Trinity during an overwhelmingly successful auction fundraiser. The mission team members truly felt the support of the parish while working in Peru. Our work is still not finished in Peru. The construction of the church facility is ongoing and is being supported jointly by Trinity in Thomasville, Christ the Redeemer in Jacksonville, and St. Luke's in Hilton Head. We plan to send another team in January to complete more of the construction work. If you are led to serve on a mission team, or would like to help with organizing this next trip, please contact Father Jim or Peggy Corbitt.

Ethne

Ethne logoEthne, founded by our priests, Father Jim and Mother Shari, is a Tallahassee-based ministry working to see the Church fully engaged in effective, coomperative mission, locally and globally. Ethne believes that by connecting the Church to reach the World we can help create a synergy that will allow the Church in Thomasville to accomplish more for the kingdom of God than isolated congregations can ever dream of.

Our name says it best. “Ethne” (Greek for “peoples” or “nations”) indicates our ultimate focus is all of the unreached peoples of the earth. “Mission” says that, while the internal dynamics of church life (fellowship, education, worship, etc.) are crucial, our passion is seeing the Church move into the whole world - across the room, across the street and across the ocean. Our ministry activities are “networking” (gathering churches together around a common mission vision) and “equipping” (teaching, consulting and coaching congregations into effective mission). Visit our website at http://www.EthneOnline.org.

Father Jim states, "Shari and I have accepted a call to serve Trinity as Rector (me) and Priest-in-residence (Shari). We believe that God is joining our paths for a season. We are excited about the emerging vision of Trinity being a hub of creative, apostolic mission in Southwest Georgia as well as being active in global mission."

Prison Ministry (Kairos)

The mission of the Kairos Prison Ministry is to bring Christ's love and forgiveness to all incarcerated individuals, their families and those who work with them, and to assist in the transition of becoming a productive citizen.

Kairos Prison Ministry is a body of ministries addressing the spiritual needs of incarcerated men, women and children, to their families and to those who work in the prison environment. Kairos sprang from the Cursillo movement and is supported by volunteers from Cursillo and those other movements that consider Cursillo as their root, such as Anglican Fourth Day. Kairos Prison Ministry is a ministry rather than a movement.

Kairos is a ministry of the church .. a ministry of the apostles whom Jesus, the Christ, has called into community and sent forth into the environment of the correctional institution. Kairos has been called the best example of the early church in existence today. Click link here: www.kairosprisonministry.org.  For more information, please see Alan George or David Carvin.
